SUMMARY
Many scientific models aim to explain engagement and well-being at work. Some focus more on personal factors to activate while others focus more on the characteristics of the environment and organizational context. In this article, we propose to integrate organizational and personal antecedents of engagement and well-being at work into the "Positive Organizational Profile" (POP) model.
This research aims to validate a French-language diagnostic tool combining the resources of the individual, the organizational environment and the professional role which determine commitment and well-being at work but also performance by relying on a large sample of French employees (N = 1,734). The results of the confirmatory factor analyses demonstrate the structural validity of the new questionnaire whose 18 scales show good reliability (α between .73 and .93).
Multiple regression analyses reveal predictable associations of different types of job resources with work engagement, work dependency, exhaustion, boredom, job satisfaction, life balance, and self-rated job performance.
The POP model offers a comprehensive perspective on the antecedents of organizational and personal development at work. The new French-language POP resource questionnaire can be used in organizational development research and practice to inform interventions by identifying potential levers for positive change within teams.
